Cracker! by: Cynthia Kadohata

My favorite part of Cracker! is the detail in which Cynthia describes a soldier's life. I personally enjoyed reading about one man's daily routine but I have a feeling that some people might find it boring. The plot line left something to be desired, considering I knew what would happen the whole way through, but I read it in one night so I can't really say I didn't like it.

Rick is a 17 year old dog handler in the Vietnam war and Cracker is his dog. At first Cracker is very difficult but as the story progresses, Rick and Cracker become best friends.

I recommend this book to people who liked Elephant Run.

The Hunger Games by: Suzanne Collins

The Hunger Games is a beautifully written novel by Susanne Collins. It amazes me with it's ability to change my mood to something more appropriate for the text. There are other good things such as the extensive character building and vivid descriptive scenes. speaking of descriptions there were far too many of them that portrayed detailed blood and gore.

Katniss Everdeen is thrown into the Hunger Games by the wicked Capitol. the  Hunger Games are a cruel way for the Capitol to keep the 12 districts in line. Every year the Capitol takes 24 boys and girls and forces them to fight to the death.

Even though it's kind of slow in the beginning I recommend this book to everyone with eyes

Ages 12 and up: blood and gore, violence.

The Name Of This Book Is Secret by: P.B.

That is the real (if not confusing) name of the book. The Name Of This Book Is Secret is a cleverly written novel by Pseudonymous Bosch. The point of view is hard to describe so you'll just have to read it, but that's just one of the many things that make this book great.

A girl named Cass, a world class survivalist (at least in her mind), Gets involved in a dangerous mystery that somehow has to do with a deceased magician, a secret spa, and the smell of rotten eggs.

It's a little slow in the beginning, but the interesting sentence structure and over-all cleverness re-compensates for that. Overall a petty great read. I recommend this book to fans of Lemony Snicket.

Twilight by: Stephenie Meyer

If you have heard your friends saying this is a good read, believe them. Stephenie definitely did a good job with Twilight. Although, I will warn you. There is definitely some strong romance going on in this book. It was recommended to me by almost everyone I know, including my grandma.

eighteen year old, Bella Swan, moves into forks for the sake of her mother, even though she hates the dreary, rainy, tiny town. when she goes to her new high school she meets the mysterious Edward Cullen.

I recommend this book to ages 11 or 12 and up. violence and mature content.

Dragon Rider by: Cornelia Funke

Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke is a great book. It easily made it into my list of favorite books. It has a ton of makeshift mythology. Cornelia did a great job intertwining good humor, danger and, action.

The community of dragons prepare to move yet again as humans close in on one of their last hiding places. One young dragon and a browny (a small catlike creature) set off to prove that one of the greatest dragon sanctuaries still exists. Unfortunately for them their quest is fraught with danger.

Cornelia Funke, author of Inkheart and its sequels, The Thief Lord and many more, made yet another amazing piece of literature with: Dragon Rider

I recommend this book to fans of: Eragon.

The Companion's Quartet (series) by: Julia Golding

The Companion's Quartet by Julia Golding is an amazing read, the writing is terrific, the story line is exiting and very interesting.  It packs an environmental punch and has a flair of mythology.

A girl named Connie goes to live with her crazy aunt while her brother goes to a boarding school in Manila.
At school she hides her many quirks while trying to unravel the mystery of a local secret society.

Ms. Golding did a tremendous job in portraying Connie's world in this series; the mystery, the action, the emotion and the setting. Even though the books ended, my thoughts remained at Connie's world.

I love these books. I have read them twice and will probably read them again. I strongly recommend this series to fans of "Percy Jackson and the Olympians".
